EYY Thought #4
Eat An Egg
Eggs are the perfect food.
They are inexpensive & easy to store. There are sooo many ways to prepare them. And they are delicious.
Not so long ago eggs had a bad reputation. Doctors were advising us to eat only the egg white or worse skip them all together because they contained cholestreol. As it turns out it is true that eggs , specifically the yolks, do indeed contain cholesterol. The good news is that you cannot raise your bad cholesterol by eating cholesterol. It is safe to eat 2 eggs a day as often as you wants.
So what else do eggs have going for them:
- contain Vitamin A, D,E and K
- Folate
- Vitamin B2,B5, B6 and B12
- Phosphorus
- Selenium
- Calcium
- Zinc
- High quality protein containing all the amino acids
- Choline
- Lots of Antioxidants
What can eggs do for you:
- Aid with weight loss
- Help to lower LDL (bad) cholesterol
- Lower triglycerides
- Improve brain health
- Boost hormonal health
- Boost immunity
- Increase well-being
- Improve skin health
Gotcha ! You are ready to dive into eggs, but what kind should you buy. There are many different kinds of eggs: organic, regular, white, brown. Eggs with extra ingredients and super vitamins. Free range….the list goes on.
I suggest eggs labeled “Pasture Raised:. This mean they are outside, pecking in the grass, foraging for at least some of their food. Eggs from pasture raised hens have been proved to be more nutritious. And they are raised the way they should be. They are a bit more expensive
If you live in an area with Natural Grocers stores you can join there club and pasture raised eggs are $3.99 a dozen though the end of March. Just join their in-store club and you are good to go.
It’s time to bring eggs bad into you diet.
Let me know how it goes.
